Then create a log of video events (-D9+v option
to dosemu) and see what's going wrong.
And upgrade your dosemu: something suggests me
that you are using one of those 1.0.x versions,
hence the problems.
And what version of util-linux package do you
have? There were a lot of broken versions, where
/bin/login doesn't set a console ownership for the
login shell process. No graphics also in that case.
