Subject: Dosemu progress since 1.0.2.1

Hello,
I have made a small comparison between the old 1.0.2.1 dosemu version
and the new 1.1.4 version to see what programs runs now stable and what
problems has been solved.
From my aprox. 30 chess programs for DOS (or maybe more!), which I
have, 9 was not running and 5 only under console, not under X. Now
with the 1.1.4, only 5 programs do not run, and from the 5 which does
not run under X only 2 remains. Rebel 9 and Rebel Decade runs now, also
Gideon. Wit the PIC-Patches from Stass Sergeev also Sargon V and
Chessmaster 2000 runs. Under X, Chessmaster 2100 runs now well. With
the missing instructions patch from Stass Sergeev also Nimzo3 and Comet
B33 shows now a correct graphic. A very important thing: dosemu
communicate now with the Novag Universal Chess Board ( Hardware!) over
the serial interface with the chess programs.
From these programs, which do not run under dosemu, some (like Mchess
1.x, Socrates 3.0, Wchess) will probably never run because of the copy
protection issues, for some other (like Virtual chess, ) there is a
little bit hope. All in all, there was a big progress since the last
stable version -not mentioned the progress in sound!
For this all a big "Thank you" to the dosemu team.

Best regards
Bernhard Bialas
