Borland Sidekick is started by pressing LeftShift and RightShift
simultaneously. This worked well in 1.1.4.0, but somewhere between
1.1.4.0 and 1.1.4.8 (can't narrow it down further at the moment)
dosemu has developed problems with detecting the simultaneous key
presses.
In 1.1.4.8 and later it is very difficult to get Sidekick to pop
up (and then to stay put). Sidekick pops up briefly, then
apparently thinks that both keys are not depressed after all, and
disappears again. Has something involving timing and the keyboard
changed recently?
Regards, Jan

Do you mean the keys must be kept
pressed in order it to stay on screen?

Very probably, but you didn't specify
the backend you are using (X, X_keycode,
raw or slang) so there is no info for a
precise answer.

No, also if you keep both keys pressed SK disappears.
It just flashes on briefly. Very very occasionally
it stays, this must be when one hits both keys exactly
on time.

xdosemu, X_keycode is auto (default) in dosemu.conf.

Hello.

I am asking how it intended to work.
Is it enough to just release the shift
keys to make it disappear, or it is
necessary to press something to make
it go away?
I have tested it with xev: if I hold
the left shift and press the right
shift, X generates 3 events (Press,
Release, Press) instead of 1 (Press)
in most cases and only sometimes it
generates a single event. The same is
with release, but again only when the
left shift is being pressed.
Is it true also for you?

How good does it work with other
settings? console/raw? $_X_keycode=(off)?
