Hi,
dosemu-1.1.4 is now available; see www.dosemu.org/bleeding
This features
* much improved DPMI support
* much improved sound (SBPro, midi) support
* new: joystick emulation
* many PIC related cleanups
* misc fixes to IPX and network code
* misc fixes to the MFS ("lredir'ed file system")
* make install works again, configuration is a little simplified
* the new keyboard code is now enabled by default
and other bug fixes that are too important too mention...
NOTES:
* this is a development release -- some of the new code may have glitches
at certain points; if dosemu-1.0.2.1 works fine for you, and you're not
feeling adventurous then there is no good reason to use 1.1.4.
* even though the 'dosemu' wrapper script now allows a suid-root
dosemu.bin, this is not recommended: do not allow the execution of
suid-root DOSEMU by untrusted users; if DPMI is enabled, (local
"get-root") exploits are possible, and there might be other exploits that
we don't know about.
* setup-dosemu is disabled; I haven't got around to repair it yet; for
now, just edit the configuration files, compiletime-settings,
compiletime-settings.devel, dosemu.conf and ~/.dosemurc, by hand. The
defaults should "just work".

.... and of course I should give credit where credit is due:
A big "thank you" goes to Stas Sergeev for many of the above fixes and
improvements, and to Clarence Dang for the joystick support, and all
other contributors, who are too important to mention here :-)

Hi all,
For some reason I haven't been receiving any emails from this list since
cometime around christmas but I'm still trying to have my pharlap SDK
running under dosemu.
I currently am trying with, for example, 386asm.exe v8.0 and I'm always
getting:
C:\META>pp386p
Error TNT.20035: The 386 chip is currently executing
in virtual 8086 mode under the control of another program. You must turn
off this other program in order to use 386|DOS-Extender to run in
protected mode.
I'm currently running :
Linux DOS emulator 1.1.4.10 $Date: 2003/02/01 $
Last configured at Mon Feb 24 22:26:50 EST 2003 on linux
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Channy

Either you have a DPMI disabled in
your dosemu.conf (unlikely for the
recent enough dosemu you are using)
or your PharLap extender is too old
and requires VCPI (see the link for
some explanations)
