OK, I see.
You can't get that working on the recent
dosemu because that was explicitly prohibited
in the parser.
But please have a look into a parser.y:1314
of dosemu 1.0.2. strcpy(sptr->dev, ttyname(0))
is there and should segfault when the FD 0
is referring not to a tty and the virtual modem
is attempted to be used on it.

I've heard about a major changes done in 2.4
kernels recently, mostly VM-related. It would
be good to figure out what was broken, but
perhaps the things are just not settled down
yet after that changes.
