But why? It seems people (not only you)
do not like WinOS2, but I really fail to
see the reason. Is there really something
that makes WinOS2 such unappealing?

Very probably. AFAIK even qemu suffers
the same problem.

Have you tried my ancient hack like this:

I know it is not perfect, but it used to
work in the past (havent tested it lately).
The proper integration of OPL3 is imminent,
but it will require the redesign of the
current sound code, which is a damn too much
of work for now.
