dosemu on Mac OSX?

Hello,

Can anyone kindly confirm that dosemu runs and functions on MacOSX
similar to how it works under Linux? Anything special to look out for?

Hi, and thanks for answering!

I was hoping since OSX is BSD-based, that there perhaps were already a
way to tweak the build to make it build there..

The reason why we need dosemu rather than dosbox is that we've had
trouble getting dosbox to map the LPT1 printer port to a virtual
network-based printer in the past. On dosemu under Linux it's easy to
map LPT1 to a cups printer queue set up as raw.

The applications running in dosbox are a plethora of old custom
Clipper applications (compiled with summer87) - it's all rather
ancient..

Anothe possibility is something like BOCHS or QEMU.

I assume, these days, any reference to Macs are the newer ones with
comodity pc-like hardware inside. So you can dual boot Linux and MacOS
or even just run FreeDOS, etc in <insert name of your favorite MacOS
virtuliazation program here>

Dualboot is fine, but then how would you map the non-existing physical
parallell port to a virtual printer on the host PC if you simply dual
boot?
I've tried this in Qemu and it doesn't seem to support it, and so far
dosemu is the only application I've come across that lets me
seamlessly take all data collected on the virtual LPT1 and spit it out
into any printer queue on host OS, aallowing the data to appear nicely
on any networked printer anywhere.

I found this thread
http://macosx.forked.net/bbarchive/forum5/000113.html that is rather
old an incomplete, but it's the only hint in the right direction so
far..

But what is the point there? For that just run e.g. FreeDOS in virtualbox.

I see, ya i agree dosemu would be the best way, but there hasn't been
a BSD port in in long time.
