I just read on an Ubuntu mail list that Dosemu has been updated, to
version 2.0, yet when I go to the Dosemu web site, I cannot find any
reference it it. Does anyone know what the status is? The launchpad
site is very confusing. I cannot find any link to what the improvements
are in the new version.
Reference was made that Dosemu has been abandoned since 2007. Like the
bumble bee that was told by the aviation engineer that he could not fly,
gee, I have been using Dosemu for years.

This looks like a fork created from some oldish
sources, probably from 1.4.0 - the git history is
not preserved to say for sure.
So I guess you need to ask on their forum, not
here. :)
Alternatively, use this url instead:
https://launchpad.net/debian/sid/+source/dosemu/

I'm moving to a 64-bit system (Debian stable). The Dosemu website
speaks about 64-bit ports since at least V 1.4.X, I have downloaded those
binaries (with instructions that make no mention of any special 64-bit
considerations or issues), but have been unable to get them to work and
I wonder if they are 64-bit aware, It is also notable that debian currently
does not seem to offer a dosemu package.
Am I on the wrong track? There was talk of a V2 in about 2013. Was that a
fork, and should I be using it perhaps? Yet the original dosemu site
persists, still with 2007 information, and no indication that it is not still
relevant. All of this makes me wonder if this (sadly) is a dead end.
To cut to the chase: what do I need to do to run dosemu on a 64 bit OS,
as promised? where is the software, and where is it documented? Any
help or pointers (or critiques) would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I have been in this position for many years; a Dos Cadd program
I depend on will not run properly on Dosemu under 64-bit
linux, but runs fine on 32-bit systems. So I just use a 32-bit
virtual Ubuntu machine (I use VMware player). Works fine. I would
be happy to send you a copy of the VM if you would like.
thanks

Hi there,
Did you try dosemu2, it's where current development activity is happening? If there are still 64bit problems with that then raising an issue on github will likely get them fixed.
https://github.com/stsp/dosemu2
If you need deb packages there's also a PPA I made of the current devel branch with daily builds.

Just to clarify: V2 was intended to be a completely
independent project, that's why the dosemu site does
not mention it. The amount of rewritten code and new
features was initially very large (you can see the diffstats
yourself), plus a different license. But right now I don't
have a lot of free time for it, so at this point of time we
can call it a development fork of dosemu1, diminishing
its original goals. :)
In any case, you can try it out and report bugs, but its a
development code, a bit far from any release yet. Just hope
it will suit your needs and we try to keep the amount of
regressions from dosemu1 at minimum where possible.
