the problem I had with the modem locking is still present in 1.1.99. I
wonder if the serial code bug fix made it to CVS after 1.1.99?

Odd, that. I find that under 1.1.99 my modem finally is *not* locked for
user. Under 1.1.5 it was locked for user, and I could only run it as root.

i'm trying this as root. This is also with vgetty running concurrently.
I have always been able to do this before so I know it's possible. the
vgetty log even says something like "junk on the line - could be a dial
out program without proper locking - check this!" when I run the modem
program and type ATA. Also, can anyone verify that the standard locking
directory is /var/lock or /var/lock/subsys?

thanks.

Note that in dosemu.conf, the default is /var/lock, but you can set it to
otherwise:

# Lock directory (e.g. default: "/var/lock")

# $_ttylocks = "/var/lock"
