dosemu 1.1.9 and 1.2.0 oddity

I notice the following oddity when running Quicken 8 for DOS:

If I run an xdosemu session, load Q8DOS, and attempt to save a transaction,
the xdosemu session locks up. However, if I load an application that allows
me to go to a DOS shell, and then run Q8DOS from within that DOS shell, all
is well.

If this is relevant, I run dosemu with ms-dos 6.22 and 4dos.

Does it have something to do with the
Blinker extender?
Try "strings program.exe | grep Blinker"
to find out. This extender is not yet
properly supported as you already know,
but the support is planning.

Btw, have you already tried the patch for your
"dosemu 1.2.0: oddity when two instances open"
which I posted here:

        $strings q.exe | grep Blinker

has no output.
