Subject: Dosemu 1.0.2 with graphics (without X) on ATI Rage XL?
Date: Tue, 02 Sep 2003 12:04:21 +0200 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <m3smnf8q1m.fsf@Janik.cz> (raw)
Hi,
is it possible to run dosemu in graphics mode with this card? I currently
do have it running with T602 in it on Dell Optiplex GX150 with Intel 82815
chipset AGP card.
The system I'd like to get running it on is Dell PowerEdge 400SC with this
card in PCI bus:
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Rage XL (rev 27) (prog-if 00 [VGA])
Subsystem: ATI Technologies Inc: Unknown device 8008
Flags: bus master, stepping, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 21
Memory at fd000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M]
I/O ports at dd00 [size=256]
Memory at fe9de000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K]
Expansion ROM at fea00000 [disabled] [size=128K]

Bus 2, device 0, function 0:
Class 0300: PCI device 1002:4752 (rev 39).
IRQ 21.
Master Capable. Latency=64. Min Gnt=8.
Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xfd000000 [0xfdffffff].
I/O at 0xdd00 [0xddff].
Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xfe9de000 [0xfe9defff].
I can provide other details as well.
When I run the dosemu with the same configuration as I used on Optiplex
150, I see only the banner from dosemu and nothing else. Keyboard is
working so I can switch to other console and kill dosemu.
The config section right now contains:
$_video = "vga" # one of: plainvga, vga, ega, mda, mga, cga
$_console = (0) # use 'console' video
$_graphics = (1) # use the cards BIOS to set graphics
$_videoportaccess = (0) # allow videoportaccess when 'graphics' enabled
$_vbios_seg = (0xc000) # set the address of your VBIOS (e.g. 0xe000)
$_vbios_size = (0x10000)# set the size of your BIOS (e.g. 0x8000)
$_vmemsize = (1024) # size of regen buffer
$_chipset = "plainvga" # one of: plainvga, trident, et4000, diamond, avance
# cirrus, matrox, wdvga, paradise, ati, s3, sis
I tried using chipset ATI, with various vbios values but without
success.
