msys process

Under Linux I have a process running.   msys/fla.

This process seems to keep my load averages around 1.    When I do not have the driver loaded my laod averages are 0.06.  Since I mount my flash as ro to load software and only read  a raw partition
for configuration informatin, I have to wonder my my load averages are *so* high with this process.

1) What is it doing?

2) How can I stop it?

3) Why is is consuming so many resources for a little task?

M-sys have already told me that they are not interested in chasing and
fixing the bug. I would seriously recommend using the MTD drivers in Linux
for the following reasons:

1. It works
2. You get support

I'm using the latest M-SYS software.  From what I heard, the MTD driver 
does not support the version 5 of software.

If you just reformat your DiskOnChip using version 4 of the software it 
should work fine. Alternatively, it'll take about a couple of hours worth 
of hacking to make it work.

If I may ask a (possibly dumb) question, does this UnitSizeFactor issue with different
versions of M-Sys firmware even matter anymore when the M-Sys IPL/SPL is replaced with
Grub?

Yes. It's related to the format of NFTL on the DiskOnChip, not to the 
bootloader/firmware.

We only didn't support NFTL instances with UnitSizeFactor != 1. That is,
where the _logical_ erase block size used by NFTL was larger than the
physical erase block size.

The fix for this, which I'd been trying to get someone to do for ages, took 
about half an hour. It's in CVS, untested.
