Is JFFS2 kept current in eCOS or is it periodically merged?
If merged, when did this last happen?

Yes it is periodically merged - from eCos to MTD for
ecos-specific files, and from MTD to eCos for all other
files.

This is the most recent MTD-to-eCos merge I found:
http://ecos.sourceware.org/ml/ecos-cvs/2005/msg00015.html
For more eCos information, here is the eCos mailing
lists index:
http://ecos.sourceware.org/intouch.html
