Hello,

This is a late fixes PR; I was waiting for three other fixes on the ML
to be acknowledged but this turned out to not happen in time, so here is
the only fix which needs to get in for this release, and the rest will
be delayed to the next cycle, buying us time to settle.

A single late MTD fix, which reverts a fix that turned out to be
incorrect. The observations of the committer was that the number of IDs
to be used to probe a chip was incorrect. It happened to be a limitation
of his controller, not a chip issue. Restore the chip description, a
solution must be found somewhere else.
