Subject: setting up X under Slackware
Date: Fri, 16 Aug 2002 00:43:23 -0400 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <20020816.004331.-204363.0.matthewstapleton@juno.com> (raw)
Hello all,
I am having some difficulty setting up X windows in a Slackware system.
Under Win95/98 my video card can handle 24bit resolution. However when I
try to tell the xf86config in Linux utility that this is the res. that I
wish to use, it reports errors when I enter 'startx'. Apparently it is
trying to use the Generic VGA driver/library rather than the SVGA one.
How can I make sure I have the SVGA drivers installed and that these are
the ones I am using in the setup process?
Thanks,
Matthew Stapleton
