Since it adds an include of export.h (which only exists in Paul's tree),
it goes into Paul's post merge patch series.

* linux-next: Tree for Oct 4

Hi all,

The linux-next tree is now available from
git://github.com/sfrothwell/linux-next.git as a temporary measure while
the kernel.org servers are unavailable.

Changes since 20110930:

The arm-soc tree lost 3 conflicts but gained others against the arm tree
and a build failure so I used the version from next-20110930.

The net tree lost a conflict.

The wireless tree lost 2 conflicts.

The omap_dss2 tree gained conflicts against the arm-soc tree.

The usb tree gained a conflict against the arm-soc tree.

The staging tree gained conflicts against the net, wireless anbd block
trees. It also gained a build failure which I didn't fix.

The moduleh tree lost its build failure but several more for which I
applied patches. It also gained a conflict against the wireless tree.

I dropped a problematic patch from the akpm tree.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" as mentioned in the FAQ on the wiki
(see below).

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log files
in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built with
a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig for x86_64. After the
final fixups (if any), it is also built with powerpc allnoconfig (32 and
64 bit), ppc44x_defconfig and allyesconfig (minus
CONFIG_PROFILE_ALL_BRANCHES - this fails its final link) and i386, sparc
and sparc64 defconfig. These builds also have
CONFIG_ENABLE_WARN_DEPRECATED, CONFIG_ENABLE_MUST_CHECK and
CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO disabled when necessary.

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

We are up to 200 trees (counting Linus' and 27 trees of patches pending
for Linus' tree), more are welcome (even if they are currently empty).
Thanks to those who have contributed, and to those who haven't, please do.

Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next . If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.

Thanks to Randy Dunlap for doing many randconfig builds.

There is a wiki covering stuff to do with linux-next at
http://linux.f-seidel.de/linux-next/pmwiki/ . Thanks to Frank Seidel.

Hi all,

After merging the final tree, today's linux-next build (powerpc
allyesconfig) failed like this:

drivers/staging/iio/industrialio-buffer.c: In function 'iio_show_fixed_type':
drivers/staging/iio/industrialio-buffer.c:108:7: error: '__LITTLE_ENDIAN' undeclared (first use in this function)

Caused by commit 8310b86c3cd2 ("staging:iio:scan element types: introduce
endian description to the data format") from the staging tree. Missing
include file ...

I haven't bothered fixing this for today.

OK, I have dropped that commit from linux-next.

Ah, thanks for tracking this down. I actually noticed the same
problem on an ARM build but did not realize it was from one of
the patches I had jut put in there myself.

I'm really glad I didn't send this to Linus cc:stable yet then.
Nicolas, in my randconfig branch, I've fixed this by adding

	depends on HAVE_CLK

which I think is the right solution. I'll replace your patch
with one that does this if you don't mind.

I'd also remove the stable tag for this patch, because it can
have unintended side-effects on other architectures.

Hi Paul,

After merging the moduleh tree, today's linux-next build (x86_64
allmodconfig) produced these errors/warnings:

drivers/staging/rtl8712/usb_intf.c:172:1: warning: data definition has no type or storage class [enabled by default]

drivers/staging/rtl8712/hal_init.c:66:17: error: expected declaration specifiers or '...' before string constant

Caused by various commits in the staging tree interacting with the
module.h split.

I have added the following patch:

Hi Paul,

After merging the moduleh tree, today's linux-next build (x86_64
allmodconfig) failed like this:

drivers/net/wireless/ath/ath6kl/cfg80211.c:25:26: error: expected ')' before 'uint'

Caused by commit 6bbc7c35ed0f ("ath6kl: Allow enabling of P2P support")
from the wireless tree interacting with the module.h split.

I added the following patch:

Hi Paul,

Today's linux-next merge of the moduleh tree got a conflict in
drivers/staging/iio/industrialio-ring.c between commit 14555b14455f
("staging:iio: replacing term ring with buffer in the IIO core") from the
staging tree and commit 4903058fe223 ("staging: Add export.h for
THIS_MODULE/EXPORT_SYMBOL to drivers/staging users") from the moduleh
tree.

The former renamed the file modified by the latter. The new file is
drivers/staging/iio/industrialio-buffer.c and will need to include
export.h.

* linux-next: manual merge of the omap_dss2 tree with the arm-soc tree
From: Stephen Rothwell @ 2011-10-04 4:06 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: Tomi Valkeinen; +Cc: linux-next, linux-kernel, Tony Lindgren

Hi Tomi,

Today's linux-next merge of the omap_dss2 tree got a conflict in
arch/arm/mach-omap2/board-rx51.c between commit 8f5b5a41ebc7 ("ARM: OMAP:
Introduce SoC specific early_init") from the arm-soc tree and commit
cc9347352509 ("OMAP: RX51: Remove unused old omapfb stuff") from the
omap_dss2 tree.

Just context changes. I fixed it up (I think - see below) and can carry
the fix as necessary.

* linux-next: build failure after merge of the arm-soc tree
From: Stephen Rothwell @ 2011-10-04 0:26 UTC (permalink / raw)

Hi Arnd,

After merging the arm-soc tree, today's linux-next build (x86_64
allmodconfig) failed like this:

ERROR: "clk_enable" [drivers/misc/atmel_pwm.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "clk_disable" [drivers/misc/atmel_pwm.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "clk_put" [drivers/misc/atmel_pwm.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "clk_get_rate" [drivers/misc/atmel_pwm.ko] undefined!
ERROR: "clk_get" [drivers/misc/atmel_pwm.ko] undefined!

Caused by commit 9dccc010c816 ("ARM: at91: remove dependency for Atmel
PWM driver selector in Kconfig").

I have used the arm-soc tree from next-20110930 for today.

OK, I have switched to these from today.
