* linux-next: Tree for Oct 25

Hi all,
*Note well*
This tree has nate had any build testing at all. As such, it probably
doesn't build :-) This tree is really just a roll up of the current state
of the trees when the v3.2 merge window opened. It will not be put into
the build system referred to below.
The linux-next tree remains available from
git://github.com/sfrothwell/linux-next.git . But this will probably be
the laste one available there.
It is also back on git.kernel.org. The patch is still absent, however.
This tree is certainly broken on sparc :-(
Changes since 20111014:
Dropped tree: ptrace (at the maintainers request)
The arm-soc tree gained conflicts against the arm tree.
The at91 tree lost its conflict.
The s5p tree lost its conflicts.
The libata tree gained a conflict against the at91 tree.
The scsi tree gained a conflict against the s390 tree.
The bluetooth tree lost several conflicts but gained another agains
Linus' tree.
The security tree probably lost its build failure.
The pm tree gained a conflict against the s390 tree.
The tip tree gained conflicts against the cputime tree.
The driver-core tree gained a conflict against the net-next tree.
The tty tree gained conflicts against Linus' tree.
The staging tree gained a conflict against the net-next tree.
The moduleh tree gained conflicts agains the xen-two and Linus' tree.
The akpm tree gained conflicts against the driver-core and block trees
and I dropped a few patches that had turned up elsewhere.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" as mentioned in the FAQ on the wiki
(see below).
You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log files
in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built with
a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig for x86_64. After the
final fixups (if any), it is also built with powerpc allnoconfig (32 and
64 bit), ppc44x_defconfig and allyesconfig (minus
CONFIG_PROFILE_ALL_BRANCHES - this fails its final link) and i386, sparc
and sparc64 defconfig. These builds also have
CONFIG_ENABLE_WARN_DEPRECATED, CONFIG_ENABLE_MUST_CHECK and
CONFIG_DEBUG_INFO disabled when necessary.
Below is a summary of the state of the merge.
We are up to 199 trees (counting Linus' and 27 trees of patches pending
for Linus' tree), more are welcome (even if they are currently empty).
Thanks to those who have contributed, and to those who haven't, please do.
Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next . If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.
Thanks to Randy Dunlap for doing many randconfig builds.
There is a wiki covering stuff to do with linux-next at
http://linux.f-seidel.de/linux-next/pmwiki/ . Thanks to Frank Seidel.

Hi James,
Today's linux-next merge of the akpm tree got a conflict in
drivers/block/cciss.c between commit ab5dbebe33e0 ("cciss: add small
delay when using PCI Power Management to reset for kump") from the block
tree and commit c9e69629e873 ("cciss: add half second delay to PCI PM
reset code") from the akpm tree.
These are essentially the same patch, so I dropped the akpm tree one.

Hi Andrew,
Today's linux-next merge of the scsi-post-merge tree got a conflict in
drivers/base/memory.c between commit de0ed36a3ecc ("Revert "memory
hotplug: Correct page reservation checking"") from the driver-core tree
and commit 587c3cc717df ("memory hotplug: release lock on an error path")
from the akpm tree.
The former commit reomved the code that is updated by the latter. So I
did that. Which means that I effectively dropped this patch.

Hi Paul,
Today's linux-next merge of the moduleh tree got a conflict in
drivers/xen/xen-selfballoon.c between commit 38a1ed4f039d ("xen: Fix
selfballooning and ensure it doesn't go too far") from the xen-two tree
and commit 29ff02027c68 ("xen: fix implicit stat.h/module.h include usage
in xen-selfballoon.c") from the moduleh tree.
I fixed it up (see below) and can carry the fix as necessary.

Hi Paul,
Today's linux-next merge of the moduleh tree got a conflict in
arch/arm/plat-s5p/dev-tv.c from merge fix patch
"arm-Add-export.h-to-recently-added-files-for-EXPORT_.patch" from the

This file has been removed, so I dropped that hunk.

Not really. I think the conflict is easy enough to handle at merge time.

I could add the git commit 85055dd805f0 from the pm tree to git390 and fix
the merge conflict in the new sparse patch. Dunno if it is worthwhile.

Hi Greg,
Today's linux-next merge of the staging tree got a conflict in
drivers/staging/et131x/et1310_tx.c drivers/staging/et131x/et131x_netdev.c
between commits afc4b13df143 ("net: remove use of ndo_set_multicast_list

skb_frag_dma_map") from the net-next tree and commit d2796743cba2
("staging: et131x: Put all .c files into one big file") from the staging

The latter removed these files, so I did that but more fixup is proably

Hi James,
Today's linux-next merge of the scsi tree got a conflict in
drivers/s390/cio/qdio_main.c between commit 9c20b3dd8479 ("[S390] qdio:
EQBS retry after CCQ 96") from the s390 tree and commit dfe5bb506172
("[SCSI] qdio: base support for hardware data router with zfcp") from the
scsi tree.
I fixed it up (see below) and can carry the fix as necessary.

Stephen,
I have not been able to get my kernel.org account re-activated as of yet, so I need to move the public dev tree to a different location until that is resolved.
Can you please point the linux-next kgdb contribution to:
git://github.com/jwessel/linux-kgdb.git kgdb-next
Many thanks!
Jason.

Hi Jeff,
Today's linux-next merge of the libata tree got a conflict in
drivers/ata/pata_at91.c between commit 9585cf300d98 ("ARM: at91/pata: use
gpio_is_valid to check the gpio") from the at91 tree and commit
8e3bfdb95ad7 ("pata_at91: call clk_put() on ata_host_activate() failure")
from the libata tree.
I fixed it up (see below) and can carry the fix as necessary.

Ok, at least this one is trivial. Thanks for the confirmation.
