Right you are! I will rework to get the diagnostics out of your way.
-Might- have helped find one of the bugs, but don't look now...

* linux-next: Tree for Mar 30
From: Stephen Rothwell @ 2016-03-30 1:50 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linux-next; +Cc: linux-kernel
Hi all,
Changes since 20160329:
My fixes tree contains:
perf tools: Fix build break on powerpc
The drm-misc tree gained a conflict against Linus' tree.
The rcu tree gained conflicts against Linus' tree.
The nvdimm tree lost its build failure.
Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 1517
1216 files changed, 51913 insertions(+), 28193 deletions(-)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" and checkout or reset to the new
master.
You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log
files in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built
with a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig (with
CONFIG_BUILD_DOCSRC=n) for x86_64, a multi_v7_defconfig for arm and a
native build of tools/perf. After the final fixups (if any), I do an
x86_64 modules_install followed by builds for x86_64 allnoconfig,
powerpc allnoconfig (32 and 64 bit), ppc44x_defconfig, allyesconfig
(this fails its final link) and pseries_le_defconfig and i386, sparc
and sparc64 defconfig.
Below is a summary of the state of the merge.
I am currently merging 231 trees (counting Linus' and 35 trees of patches
pending for Linus' tree).
Stats about the size of the tree over time can be seen at
http://neuling.org/linux-next-size.html .
Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next . If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.
Thanks to Randy Dunlap for doing many randconfig builds. And to Paul
Gortmaker for triage and bug fixes.

Stephen Rothwell

* linux-next: manual merge of the rcu tree with Linus' tree
From: Stephen Rothwell @ 2016-03-30 0:32 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: Paul E. McKenney; +Cc: linux-next, linux-kernel, Paul Gortmaker
Hi Paul,
Today's linux-next merge of the rcu tree got a conflict in:
kernel/rcu/tree.c
between commit:
abedf8e2419f ("rcu: Use simple wait queues where possible in rcutree")
from Linus' tree and commit:
08cace5914ea ("DIAGS: Crude exploratory hack")
from the rcu tree.
I fixed it up (I used the rcu tree version) and can carry the fix as
necessary. This is now fixed as far as linux-next is concerned, but any
non trivial conflicts should be mentioned to your upstream maintainer
when your tree is submitted for merging. You may also want to consider
cooperating with the maintainer of the conflicting tree to minimise any
particularly complex conflicts.
I really don't think that that rcu tree patch should be in linux-next,
right?

Cheers,
Stephen Rothwell

Hi Paul,
Today's linux-next merge of the rcu tree got a conflict in:
kernel/rcu/rcutorture.c
between commit:
25528213fe9f ("tags: Fix DEFINE_PER_CPU expansions")
from Linus' tree and commit:
0b36a04e0461 ("rcutorture: Remove redundant initialization to zero")
from the rcu tree.
I fixed it up (the latter also did what the former did) and can carry the
fix as necessary. This is now fixed as far as linux-next is concerned,
but any non trivial conflicts should be mentioned to your upstream
maintainer when your tree is submitted for merging. You may also want
to consider cooperating with the maintainer of the conflicting tree to

* linux-next: manual merge of the drm-misc tree with Linus' tree

Hi all,
Today's linux-next merge of the drm-misc tree got a conflict in:
include/drm/drm_crtc.h
between commit:
5fff80bbdb6b ("drm/atomic: Allow for holes in connector state, v2.")
from Linus' tree and commit:
6c87e5c3ec6d ("drm: Rename drm_connector_unplug_all() to drm_connector_unregister_all()")
from the drm-misc tree.
I fixed it up (see below) and can carry the fix as necessary. This
is now fixed as far as linux-next is concerned, but any non trivial
conflicts should be mentioned to your upstream maintainer when your tree
is submitted for merging. You may also want to consider cooperating
with the maintainer of the conflicting tree to minimise any particularly
complex conflicts.

* mmotm 2016-03-29-15-54 uploaded
From: akpm @ 2016-03-29 22:55 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: mm-commits, linux-kernel, linux-mm, linux-fsdevel, linux-next,
sfr, mhocko, broonie
The mm-of-the-moment snapshot 2016-03-29-15-54 has been uploaded to
http://www.ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/
mmotm-readme.txt says
README for mm-of-the-moment:
http://www.ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/
This is a snapshot of my -mm patch queue. Uploaded at random hopefully
more than once a week.
You will need quilt to apply these patches to the latest Linus release (4.x
or 4.x-rcY). The series file is in broken-out.tar.gz and is duplicated in
http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/series
The file broken-out.tar.gz contains two datestamp files: .DATE and
.DATE-yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm-ss. Both contain the string yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm-ss,
followed by the base kernel version against which this patch series is to
be applied.
This tree is partially included in linux-next. To see which patches are
included in linux-next, consult the `series' file. Only the patches
within the #NEXT_PATCHES_START/#NEXT_PATCHES_END markers are included in
linux-next.
A git tree which contains the memory management portion of this tree is
maintained at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mhocko/mm.git
by Michal Hocko. It contains the patches which are between the
"#NEXT_PATCHES_START mm" and "#NEXT_PATCHES_END" markers, from the series
file, http://www.ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/series.
A full copy of the full kernel tree with the linux-next and mmotm patches
already applied is available through git within an hour of the mmotm
release. Individual mmotm releases are tagged. The master branch always
points to the latest release, so it's constantly rebasing.
http://git.cmpxchg.org/cgit.cgi/linux-mmotm.git/
To develop on top of mmotm git:
$ git remote add mmotm git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mhocko/mm.git
$ git remote update mmotm
$ git checkout -b topic mmotm/master
<make changes, commit>
$ git send-email mmotm/master.. [...]
To rebase a branch with older patches to a new mmotm release:
$ git remote update mmotm
$ git rebase --onto mmotm/master <topic base> topic
The directory http://www.ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/ (mm-of-the-second)
contains daily snapshots of the -mm tree. It is updated more frequently
than mmotm, and is untested.
A git copy of this tree is available at
http://git.cmpxchg.org/cgit.cgi/linux-mmots.git/
and use of this tree is similar to
http://git.cmpxchg.org/cgit.cgi/linux-mmotm.git/, described above.
This mmotm tree contains the following patches against 4.6-rc1:
(patches marked "*" will be included in linux-next)

In-Reply-To: <56f5b830.Yvs8wbhgxQwqXiSe%akpm@linux-foundation.org>
I have just created since-4.5 branch in mm git tree
(http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/mhocko/mm.git;a=summary). It
is based on v4.5 tag in Linus tree and mmotm-2016-03-25-15-13.
I have pulled cgroup changes and pkeys patches merged via tip tree.
As usual mmotm trees are tagged with signed tag
(finger print BB43 1E25 7FB8 660F F2F1 D22D 48E2 09A2 B310 E347)

* linux-next: Tree for Mar 29
From: Stephen Rothwell @ 2016-03-29 0:56 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linux-next; +Cc: linux-kernel
Hi all,
Changes since 20160327:
My fixes tree contains:
perf tools: Fix build break on powerpc
The nvdimm tree still had its build failure so I used the version from
next-20160324.
Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 1007
836 files changed, 20574 insertions(+), 14730 deletions(-)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" and checkout or reset to the new
master.
You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log
files in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built
with a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig (with
CONFIG_BUILD_DOCSRC=n) for x86_64, a multi_v7_defconfig for arm and a
native build of tools/perf.

Cheers,
Stephen Rothwell

* linux-next: Tree for Mar 27
From: Stephen Rothwell @ 2016-03-27 10:28 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linux-next; +Cc: linux-kernel
Hi all,
Changes since 20160324:
Undropped tree: overlayfs
The overlayfs lost its conflicts against the ext4 tree.
The nvdimm tree gained a build failure so I used the version from
next-20160324.
Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 520
452 files changed, 10923 insertions(+), 3613 deletions(-)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" and checkout or reset to the new
master.
You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log
files in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built
with a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig (with
CONFIG_BUILD_DOCSRC=n) for x86_64, a multi_v7_defconfig for arm and a
native build of tools/perf.

Cheers,
Stephen Rothwell

Hi Dan,
After merging the nvdimm tree, today's linux-next build (powerpc
allyesconfig) failed like this:

include/linux/pmem.h:79:9: error: implicit declaration of function 'arch_memcpy_from_pmem' [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration]
return arch_memcpy_from_pmem(dst, src, size);

Hi all,
After merging the fixes tree, today's linux-next build (perf powerpcle)
failed like this:

get_cpuid(char *buffer, size_t sz)
^
arch/powerpc/util/header.c: In function 'get_cpuid':

nb = scnprintf(buffer, sz, "%lu,%lu$", PVR_VER(pvr), PVR_REV(pvr));

nb = scnprintf(buffer, sz, "%lu,%lu$", PVR_VER(pvr), PVR_REV(pvr));

* mmotm 2016-03-25-15-13 uploaded
From: akpm @ 2016-03-25 22:14 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: mm-commits, linux-kernel, linux-mm, linux-fsdevel, linux-next,
sfr, mhocko, broonie
The mm-of-the-moment snapshot 2016-03-25-15-13 has been uploaded to
http://www.ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/
mmotm-readme.txt says
README for mm-of-the-moment:
http://www.ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/
This is a snapshot of my -mm patch queue. Uploaded at random hopefully
more than once a week.
You will need quilt to apply these patches to the latest Linus release (4.x
or 4.x-rcY). The series file is in broken-out.tar.gz and is duplicated in
http://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/series
The file broken-out.tar.gz contains two datestamp files: .DATE and
.DATE-yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm-ss. Both contain the string yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm-ss,
followed by the base kernel version against which this patch series is to
be applied.
This tree is partially included in linux-next. To see which patches are
included in linux-next, consult the `series' file. Only the patches
within the #NEXT_PATCHES_START/#NEXT_PATCHES_END markers are included in
linux-next.
A git tree which contains the memory management portion of this tree is
maintained at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mhocko/mm.git
by Michal Hocko. It contains the patches which are between the
"#NEXT_PATCHES_START mm" and "#NEXT_PATCHES_END" markers, from the series
file, http://www.ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/series.
A full copy of the full kernel tree with the linux-next and mmotm patches
already applied is available through git within an hour of the mmotm
release. Individual mmotm releases are tagged. The master branch always
points to the latest release, so it's constantly rebasing.
http://git.cmpxchg.org/cgit.cgi/linux-mmotm.git/
To develop on top of mmotm git:
$ git remote add mmotm git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/mhocko/mm.git
$ git remote update mmotm
$ git checkout -b topic mmotm/master
<make changes, commit>
$ git send-email mmotm/master.. [...]
To rebase a branch with older patches to a new mmotm release:
$ git remote update mmotm
$ git rebase --onto mmotm/master <topic base> topic
The directory http://www.ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/ (mm-of-the-second)
contains daily snapshots of the -mm tree. It is updated more frequently
than mmotm, and is untested.
A git copy of this tree is available at
http://git.cmpxchg.org/cgit.cgi/linux-mmots.git/
and use of this tree is similar to
http://git.cmpxchg.org/cgit.cgi/linux-mmotm.git/, described above.
This mmotm tree contains the following patches against 4.5:

* [REDO PATCH] x86/perf: Move events_sysfs_show() outside CPU_SUP_INTEL

This patch moves events_sysfs_show outside CONFIG_CPU_SUP_INTEL, because
this interface will be also used in an AMD power reporting PMU driver.
Otherwise, below build error would be encountered:

Randy, thanks to report it.
Actually, because one patch is missed to apply.
https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/bp/bp.git/commit/?h=tip-perf&id=f5ba42d22cb478d32363b2b8e92e14b1fd190ce1
I will rebase and re-send it.

Hi Stephen,
It's not a new update, I just setup a virtual machine and imported my
korg key, but I removed the for-linus by mistake, then I pushed it
back, just ignore it.

I forgot to say that there will be no linux-next release tomorrow or
Monday.

* linux-next: Tree for Mar 24
From: Stephen Rothwell @ 2016-03-24 2:09 UTC (permalink / raw)
To: linux-next; +Cc: linux-kernel
Hi all,
Please do not add any v4.7 related material to your linux-next included
trees until after v4.6-rc1 is released.
Changes since 20160323:
Dropped tree: overlayfs
The overlayfs gained conflicts against the ext4 tree due to an
incompatible version of a patch applied to both trees. I dropped the
oevrlayfs tree for today.
Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 1119
1027 files changed, 41560 insertions(+), 10629 deletions(-)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" and checkout or reset to the new
master.
You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log
files in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built
with a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig (with
CONFIG_BUILD_DOCSRC=n) for x86_64, a multi_v7_defconfig for arm and a
native build of tools/perf.
