You forgot to include the fix, but I can confirm the fix in linux-next
LGTM.

Hi all,

After merging the drm tree, today's linux-next build (x86_64 allmodconfig)
failed like this:

/tmp/next/build/drivers/gpu/drm/panthor/panthor_mmu.c:1251:6: error: unused variable 'ret' [-Werror,-Wunused-variable]
 1251 |         int ret;
      | ^~~

Caused by commit

  6bb0009862c5f (mm/slab: improve kmem_cache_alloc_bulk)

interacting with changes in the drm tree. I have applied the fixup
below and can carry as needed.

* linux-next: manual merge of the block tree with the origin tree
From: Mark Brown @ 2026-06-16 14:00 UTC (permalink / raw)
  To: Jens Axboe
Cc: Linus Torvalds, Linux Kernel Mailing List,
	Linux Next Mailing List

Hi all,

Today's linux-next merge of the block tree got a conflict in:

  io_uring/net.c

between commit:

  9b40ba14edcdf ("Merge tag 'for-7.2/io_uring-20260615' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/axboe/linux")

from the origin tree and commit:

  c59e546eda5aa ("Merge branch 'for-7.2/io_uring' into for-next")

from the block tree.

I fixed it up (see below) and can carry the fix as necessary. This
is now fixed as far as linux-next is concerned, but any non trivial
conflicts should be mentioned to your upstream maintainer when your tree
is submitted for merging. You may also want to consider cooperating
with the maintainer of the conflicting tree to minimise any particularly
complex conflicts.

Initially there was a conflict between drm and slab and your resolution
removed that line:
https://lore.kernel.org/all/ahoZ7OCzxTAbGMtO@sirena.org.uk/

I think nothing has changed except that the slab part was merged to mainline
since. Maybe that changed the ordering of the two trees and you had to redo
the conflict resolution?

I updated my for-next a few hours ago, I think you're using an older
one. Regardless, it's fine.

Great, thanks. I mostly do a big block of fetches before starting the
merge (sometimes I update more through the day) rather than fetching
immediately before each merge, and the notification mails are often
delayed a bit compared to when I actually did the merge.

That'll be it, it didn't turn up as a conflict with the new ordering. I
did scan through for a prior issue but nothing jumped out.

* linux-next: Tree for Jun 16
From: Mark Brown @ 2026-06-16 14:30 UTC (permalink / raw)

[-- Attachment #1: Type: text/plain, Size: 1782 bytes --]

Hi all,

Changes since 20260615:

The drm tree acquired a semantic conflict with the slab tree for which I
applied a fixup.

The block tree acquired a conflict with the origin tree.

The slab tree lost it's build failure.

Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 10529
 10805 files changed, 726221 insertions(+), 208651 deletions(-)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have created today's linux-next tree at
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/next/linux-next.git
(patches at https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/next/ ). If you
are tracking the linux-next tree using git, you should not use "git pull"
to do so as that will try to merge the new linux-next release with the
old one. You should use "git fetch" and checkout or reset to the new
master.

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There is also the merge.log file in the Next
directory. Between each merge, the tree was built with a defconfig
for arm64, an allmodconfig for x86_64, a multi_v7_defconfig for arm,
an arm64 build of various kselftests, a KUnit build and run on arm64,
and a native build of tools/perf. After the final fixups (if any), I do
an x86_64 modules_install followed by builds for x86_64 allnoconfig,
arm64 allyesconfig, powerpc allnoconfig (32 and 64 bit),
ppc44x_defconfig and pseries_le_defconfig and i386, s390, sparc and
sparc64 defconfig and htmldocs.

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

I am currently merging 425 trees (counting Linus' and 131 trees of bug
fix patches pending for the current release).

Stats about the size of the tree over time can be seen at
http://neuling.org/linux-next-size.html .

Thanks to Paul Gortmaker for triage and bug fixes.

Hi all,

After merging the origin tree, today's linux-next build (perf.log perf)
failed like this:

util/btf.c: In function '__btf_type__find_member_by_name':

Triggered by commit:

f7a6b9eaff3e6 (bpf: Extend BTF UAPI vlen, kinds to use unused bits)

This was dealt with in -next as part of a conflict resolution,
converting i to a u32, but that doesn't seem to have been picked up
anywhere. I will apply the fixup below (which I'll also send
separately).

Hi all,

The merge window is open, so please to not addd any v7.2 material
to your linux-next included branches until after the merge window closes.

Changes since 20260615:

The origin tree acquired a build failure for which I applied a fixup.

Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 6079
 5884 files changed, 298566 insertions(+), 109672 deletions(-)

Any chance you forgot to push next-20260617 to git.kernel.org?
At least I can see only next-20260616, including the corresponding
master branch.

Yes, it wasn't pushed - it's there now.

Hi all,

The merge window is open, so please to not addd any v7.2 material
to your linux-next included branches until after the merge window closes.

Changes since 20260618:

None.

Non-merge commits (relative to Linus' tree): 4115

an x86_64 modules_install followed by builds for x86_64 allnoconfig,

ppc44x_defconfig and pseries_le_defconfig and i386, s390, sparc and
sparc64 defconfig and htmldocs.

Below is a summary of the state of the merge.

I am currently merging 425 trees (counting Linus' and 131 trees of bug
fix patches pending for the current release).

Stats about the size of the tree over time can be seen at

This issue is still present today.

thanks for catching this; I sent [1] which should resolve the failure.

* linux-next: duplicate patch in the amdgpu tree

Hi all,

The following commit is also in the drm tree as a different commit
(but the same patch):

1b5e413713c0a ("drm/amdgpu: Fix context pstate override handling")

Please note that it is the merge window and you should not be adding any
commits not intended to be merged into Linus' tree during this merge
window. Both copies of this commit were added on the same day, during
the merge window.

* linux-next: manual merge of the amdgpu tree with the drm tree

Hi all,

Today's linux-next merge of the amdgpu tree got a conflict in:

  drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/amdgpu_device.c

between commit:

  a2b270c0ecf6d ("drm/amdgpu: initialize irq.lock spinlock earlier")

from the drm tree and commits:

  7dba3e10ecdee ("drm/amdgpu: initialize irq.lock spinlock earlier")
6eadd448d7e7d ("drm/amdgpu: Choose SOC15 RLC register read write functions at init time")

from the amdgpu tree.
