this seems to be caused by configure, which contains:
KRBLIBS=3D`$K5CONFIG --libs gssapi`
$ krb5-config --libs gssapi
-Wl,-Bsymbolic-functions -lgssapi_krb5 -lkrb5 -lk5crypto -lcom_err
./aclocal/kerberos5.m4 contains as well:
KRBLIBS=3D`$K5CONFIG --libs gssapi`
