I'm trying to get TV [S-Video] working on my 3530 board.
The settings in the current kernel don't seem to work very
well on my TV (U.S. NTSC, standard). Comparing the video
encoder setup with the suggested values in the manual, I
find many differences, mostly with respect to the framing
(signal shaping).
Questions:
* Are the settings in the kernel tree known to work [as is]?
* Why the divergence from the recommended values?
Any ideas or helpful pointers would be graciously accepted
Thanks

[Hiremath, Vaibhav] Can you provide some more details like,
Which kernel version are you using?
Are you using DSS2 for TV out?
Which board you are using, (must be EVM)?

I started with the "official" OMAP tree (git://git.omapzoom.org/repo/omapkernel.git)
If there is a better starting point, I'd certainly like to know.
Trying to find the correct tree to use is challenging.
> Are you using DSS2 for TV out?
Not sure exactly what that means. Again, trying to follow this
development is not straight forward - it seems that those who
know the answers assume that everyone does, so why bother explaining
anything? (Maybe that's a bit cynical, but my experience so far)
> Which board you are using, (must be EVM)?
It's a new board under development, more or less like the beagle.
Again, I'd appreciate any help or pointers. Thanks

The right one is at http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/tmlind/linux-omap-2.6.git;a=shortlog

Note: if this is the wrong list, or if there's a better place
to ask these questions, please redirect me.
I have an OMAP/Zoom1 (3430 LDP). I'm trying to use the
S-Video output, without much success. Today, I grabbed
the latest tree (as least from what I can gather from various
web pages) from git://git.omapzoom.org/repo/omapkernel.git
When I try to use the TV, the kernel crashes immediately:
Unhandled fault: external abort on non-linefetch (0x1008) at 0xd8050440

Notes:
* An older kernel (circa 2008-12-01) does not crash. The
TV output is not correct, but at least it doesn't crash.
* How can I turn off the double printk()? All kernel messages
get duplicated and it makes it terribly hard to use. e.g.

VFS: Mounted root (nfs filesystem).
Other kernels (PowerPC, etc) don't suffer from this.
* This kernel version is very unstable - it simply quits after
just a few moments of running. I didn't see this with the
older kernel.
Thanks for any ideas/pointers

I'm guessing that the external abort is caused by the DSS interface
clock being disabled.

How can I fix it? Am I missing some setup?
How am I supposed to use the S-Video (TV) interface? Currently,
I'm executing this (which used to work):
echo tv >/sys/class/display_control/omap_disp_control/graphics

Interestingly, this sort of worked (no kernel crash) when I
disabled Power Management. Sadly, it quit/vanished after some
scant few seconds...
