If we attempt to clean up the whole GPIO code along with this, we will have many more changes as we need to introduce function pointers and cleanup almost each line of the existing code. This will be too much to be done in a single series. Hence HWMOD FW adaptation series is coming first. GPIO code clean up series can be done on top of this.

I didn't find anything in this thread saying that you will do both
cleanup and hwmod migration, so what is your plan? Do you already have a
second series that will do the cleanup on top of that one?
FWIW, in my case, the change is quite straightforward to do it right now.
