This sounds like a known problem with the Debian 3.0r0 install CDs. Did a Debian 3.0r1 installer ever get made? If not, the alternative is to try the more recent net-install ISOs. "net install" just means the system has to have access to a Debian mirror via LAN. Still need to burn and boot from CD. URLs to "net install ISOs" are on the www.parisc-linux.org web page. hth, grant
