Kind Regards Michiel Janssens [1.] One line summary of the problem: [HP EliteBook 8740w] suspend/resume failure [2.] Full description of the problem/report: The crash is simulated as follows: Put system in suspend. When suspend is finished, the laptop indicates its in suspend mode by slowly flashing the power light. When waking the system via sleep button on the external keyboard (within about 3 to 5 seconds, sometimes within 10 seconds), system goes on briefly (about 3 to 5 seconds), then crashes and reboots. Sometimes it crashed even faster after pressing the sleep button, sometimes it also doesn't reboot directly after crashing, but just stays powered off. Every time this happens, during booting up again a file system check is done and a crash report is made. This issue happens with the lid open all the time. However it will only wake up by pushing the power button. Lid opening doesn't trigger a wake/resume, but I guess I will have to file a separate bug report for that. This crash also happens with the lid closed all the time and a separate external keyboard connected where the sleep button triggers suspend as well as resume. WORKAROUND: If I wait much longer (say a minute or longer) before waking the system, resume works perfectly.
