Hi,
ok I give up trying to install suse 7.3 with root raid1.Can anyone suggest
me a distro for setting up 2 identical h.disks with all the partitions
raid1?

The Redhat 7.3 installer does raid 0,1 and 5 quite handily. You should
still read the raid howtos to get a better understanding of what is
going on though.
