From mboxrd@z Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 1970 From: Andreas Feldmann Subject: PROBLEM: root mounted read only on kernel 2.6.0-test4-bk2 Date: Wed, 27 Aug 2003 19:34:31 +0200 Sender: linux-raid-owner@vger.kernel.org Message-ID: <3F4CEBA7.1000005@az-aachen.de> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Return-path: To: mingo@redhat.com, linux-raid@vger.kernel.org, neilb@cse.unsw.edu.au List-Id: linux-raid.ids [1.] One line summary of the problem: sometimes when I boot up my computer the root device /dev/md1 is mounted read-only. [2.] Full description of the problem/report: sometimes when I boot up my computer the root device /dev/md1 is mounted read-only. it has until now never occured wih the other raid device /dev/md0 (on which I have a lvm installed). since the computer can't write to /var/log when the bug occures it prints out the error message in the virtual terminals: "EXT3-fs error (device md1) in start_transaction: Readonly filesystem" and sometimes he writes: "EXT3-fs error (device md1) in ext3_delete_inode: Readonly filesystem" the mount command says that /dev/md1 is mountes read write (option rw). what I do about it is I reboot the system. then normaly the root device is mounted rw as it should. [3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel): ext3, boot, unstable kernel, software raid. [4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version): aef@chaos:~ > cat /proc/version Linux version 2.6.0-test4-bk2 (root@chaos.diy) (gcc version 3.2.3 20030415 (Debian prerelease)) #2 Sun Aug 24 22:52:50 CEST 2003 [5.] Output of Oops.. message (if applicable) with symbolic information resolved (see Documentation/oops-tracing.txt) [6.] A small shell script or example program which triggers the problem (if possible) [7.] Environment [7.1.] Software (add the output of the ver_linux script here) root@chaos:/usr/src/linux/scripts # sh ver_linux If some fields are empty or look unusual you may have an old version.
