From mboxrd@z Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 1970 From: Andreas Feldmann Subject: BUG: raid0_make_request bug in kernel 2.6.0-test5-bk10 Date: Wed, 24 Sep 2003 17:06:14 +0200 Sender: linux-raid-owner@vger.kernel.org Message-ID: <3F71B2E6.4010805@az-aachen.de> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7BIT Return-path: To: linux-raid@vger.kernel.org List-Id: linux-raid.ids [1.] One line summary of the problem: raid0_make_request bug in kernel 2.6.0-test5-bk10 [2.] Full description of the problem/report: Since I updated to the 2.6.0-test5-bk10 kernel I get these bug messages everytime the computer executes a binary file in one of my raid0/lvm partitions (see below how my harddisk is partitioned) for the first time since bootup: > raid0_make_request bug: can't convert block across chunks or bigger than 4k 286485088 64 The second last number in the bug message differs with every message I get. The last one is either 8, 12, 20, 24 or 64 (and maybe some more which I didn't see). The numbers of messages I get also differs with every exutable. Naturally I get a lot of these messages at boot time from the point onward that init is started. With the 2.6.0-test5-bk3 kernel this problem didn't occur. Despite the fact that these messages are quite annoying they don't seem to have any effect on the work flow. Everything seems to work fine. [3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel): raid, lvm [4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version): root@chaos:/proc # cat version Linux version 2.6.0-test5-bk10 (root@chaos.diy) (gcc version 3.2.3 (Debian)) #1 Tue Sep 23 17:51:27 CEST 2003 [5.] Output of Oops.. message (if applicable) with symbolic information resolved (see Documentation/oops-tracing.txt) [6.] A small shell script or example program which triggers the problem (if possible) [7.] Environment [7.1.] Software (add the output of the ver_linux script here) root@chaos:/usr/src/linux/scripts # ./ver_linux If some fields are empty or look unusual you may have an old version. Compare to the current minimal requirements in Documentation/Changes.
