Has anyone tried this out on linux yet?  Software based iSCSI to 
overcome the "how do I physically add more drives" problem, and raid5 
for redundancy?

Probably not the fastest, but I'm looking for reliable, cheap, massive 
storage.  And, I suspect others are too.  On a private gigabit ethernet 
subnet, or (god willing) infiniband, this might be really nice.
