My development machine crashed (a couple of times - X ati driver does
not seem to like multiple graphics cards), and I lost one of the md
RAID-1 arrays (other arrays work just fine):
# mdadm -V
mdadm - v3.0.2 - 25th September 2009
# mdadm /dev/md2 -A /dev/sda5 /dev/sdb5
Segmentation fault
# dmesg
[ 4736.407237] md: md2 stopped.
[ 4736.568062] mdadm[10019]: segfault at 0 ip 00007fc7172ed711 sp
00007fff9b486af8 error 4 in libc-2.10.1.so[7fc717274000+154000]
The kernel is 2.6.31.1.
Any hints before I try to fix it my way?

AFAIK mdadm 3.0.2 is the latest-greatest (stable) release:

My bad. I haven't noticed that you were using 3.0.2
Try to force the assembly of the array -Af and see if it works. If
that doesn't work, run it again using strace (strace mdadm ...) and
that should give much more detail into why this is happening.

How did you install mdadm? I think I remember similar issues w/
segfaults when I
compiled w/ MAKEOPTS=-jN where N>1. What distro & architecture were you on?
Good luck,

I don't see anything particular in the strace:
http://www1.wpkg.org/mdadm.txt
(here, adding only one drive, as I had to mount the other drive without
md to access data).

I'm using a distribution package (Mandriva Cooker, 64 bit). It was
working fine all the time; started to break with yesterday's crashes (I
see my /boot array is not available as well).
However, I just compiled mdadm from source (without changing any options
in the Makefile), and it crashes too.

Well, mdadm just doesn't work on my machine - tried 3.0.1, 3.0.2:
# ./mdadm /dev/md3 -C /dev/sdb6 missing -n 2 -l 1
Segmentation fault
#
Latest git seems to work fine though.

could you run it under gdb and post a backtrace?

As I said, it's fixed in the latest mdadm git tree.
