Thanks for that link. I think lsdrv doesn't see sda7 or sdb7, either:

D5s2:/#

No sign of sda7/sdb7, the partitions that underlie /dev/md126. I ran
gdisk on sda (sdb is identical - I had used gdisk to replicate the
partition structure when I did that RAID 1 repair a few days ago):

D5s2:/# gdisk
GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 0.8.1

Type device filename, or press <Enter> to exit: /dev/sda
Partition table scan:
   MBR: protective
   BSD: not present
   APM: not present
   GPT: present

Found valid GPT with protective MBR; using GPT.

Command (? for help): ?
b back up GPT data to a file
c change a partition's name
d delete a partition
i show detailed information on a partition
l list known partition types
n add a new partition
o create a new empty GUID partition table (GPT)
p print the partition table
q quit without saving changes
r recovery and transformation options (experts only)
s sort partitions
t change a partition's type code
v verify disk
w write table to disk and exit
x extra functionality (experts only)
? print this menu

Command (? for help): i
Partition number (1-8): 7
Partition GUID code: A19D880F-05FC-4D3B-A006-743F0F84911E (Linux RAID)
Partition unique GUID: 34925916-6AB9-4461-8F2D-32DA766C2116
First sector: 40062540 (at 19.1 GiB)
Last sector: 118187540 (at 56.4 GiB)
Partition size: 78125001 sectors (37.3 GiB)
Attribute flags: 0000000000000000
Partition name: ''

Command (? for help):

Note: That partition name is two, separate, apostrophes. So the
partition name is blank, and so are the names of most of the
partitions. So sda7 exists (and it has /home on it, if we could but
see it).

Phil, thanks very much for the time you've spent on this. I'm going
to carefully make the changes to mdadm.conf, fstab, and initramfs now,
and reboot; It seems as though it might boot again ok.

regards, Ron
