I am currently facing disk detection problem with the AMD700 SATA chip (cold book will either not detect any disk, or some of them, but warm reboot detects them all) that's why I envisage this Adpatec controller alternative. It seems the SB700 series chip has a known problem with PMP (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_700_chipset_series#Southbridges). Kernel I use is 2.6.32 (RHEL6). Many thanks
