Yah, exactly, same arguments on both sides, same missed point that the
distros are really driving the show here..

Yes, that is certainly technically doable.

Though, it kind of makes rdma-plumbing the new OFED so I'd rather like
to see us avoid forking anything.

I think Robert and Leon have come around to the idea anyhow. More
people are on board than not so this is happening on way or another...
