Hi Luben,

I did some patch regarding 'rmmod aic79xx' which got partially vetoed as
the aic79xx driver should rather be updated to use the spi_transport
class as the aic7xxx driver already has.
Do you have any plans in that area?

Cheers,

Hannes

I've no resources attributed to aic79xx at the moment.

But I'd like to say absolute kudos to James and Christoph for
making aic7xxx SPI transport aware! Thumbs up!

All the hard work was done by James, I just did some minor cleanups so
I shouldn't be credited here :)

Is Adaptec willing to give aic79xx hardware and docs to scsi developers
to allow converting aic79xx to the SPI transport class and perform
other updates?

You're welcome ... although we could do with the documentation and a
wider range of adapters. If the aic7xxx/79xx are going unresourced,
could the docs now be published? and if you happen to have spare
adapters, they'd be useful (I have aic7xxx HW up to the Ultra 2 but not
the Ultra 3, and I have no aic79xx hw at all).

James

A bunch of other hardware vendors have allowed me to post hardware docs at

	http://gkernel.sourceforge.net/specs/

If Adaptec opens the docs for the older SPI hardware, that's a
convenient home for them. It would certainly ease the task of
supporting aic7xxx.

I'll inquire.
