Subject: [PATCH] scsi_debug version 1.79 against 2.6.17-rc5
Date: Tue, 06 Jun 2006 00:11:24 -0400	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <4485006C.5000405@torque.net> (raw)

[-- Attachment #1: Type: text/plain, Size: 1390 bytes --]

For some time I have been maintaining an advanced version
of the scsi_debug driver while the features in the mainline
kernel version have remained unchanged. It was suggested
that a patch be sent to the list against what is in the
mainline (lk 2.6.17-rc5). Due to its size, the attachment
is gzipped.

See http://www.torque.net/sg/sdebug26.html for more
information about the advanced scsi_debug driver.

This patch could be considered for inclusion in lk 2.6.18

ChangeLog:
  - add 'virtual_gb' parameter to simulate large storage
(by wrapping in dev_size_mb megabytes of actual ram)
  - add 'no_lun_0' parameter to skip lun 0 on each target
(but still respond as required to INQUIRY + REPORT LUNS)
  - add well know lu support
  - add MODE SELECT commands support [pages: 0xa and 0x1c]
  - add LOG SENSE command support [pages: 0xd and 0x2f]
  - add READ CAPACITY (16) support
  - increase number of mode pages supported (to read),
mainly transport specific (SAS) mode (sub)pages
  - add more VPD pages and extend others, including
    ATA information VPD page
  - START STOP UNIT now maintains a state machine
  - READ (16) and WRITE (16) cope with lbas larger
than 32 bits (needed for the 'virtual_gb' parameter)
  - allow single command transfers up to 32 MB
  - more precise error (sense data) messages
