There are mpt-fusion changes in 2.6.18-mm1, but afaict they're in mainline
now. Do you know if current -linus works OK?

Arse, it seems that the other problem that we are talking about on this
machine also just got pushed up to mainline (2.6.18-git7) so it
currently doesn't compile.
Will try the same fix on that I used on -mm1 and see if it fixes that.
