Patched GCC to correct a scratch bug and rebuilt. Also upgraded binutils to
2-20.1... then I started receiving a GPREL 16 error. Went ahead and added
-Wl,--no-relax to my CFLAGS for the ENTIRE build, error still persists.

Welp, back again. Tried adding -Wl,--no-relax to the CFLAGS... received the
same error. Then turned around and downgraded build tools a bit, thinking they
might be too new. Rebuilt with gcc-4.3.4 and Binutils-2.17. Got to the very end
and received an error msg that LD didn't recognized the option '--build-id'.

Removed the 'offending' string from the linker options and tried once more, and
received a slightly different error msg:

In order to get around all the GPREL16 errors, I simply removed the offending
drives from the kernel and config'd them to be compile separately as modules.
Than after having to create a new init ram disk, I receive a slightly different
error in regards to the Adaptec (aic7xxx) driver:

Kernel-2.6.33 seem to build without issue with a couple of patches and from the
looks of things, aka lack of complaints, appear to be pretty much an Alpha
related coding problem.
