The Qualcomm automotive SA8255p SoC relies on firmware to configure
platform resources, including clocks, interconnects and TLMM. The device
drivers request resources operations over SCMI using power and
performance protocols.
The SCMI power protocol enables or disables resources like clocks,
interconnect paths, and TLMM (GPIOs) using runtime PM framework APIs,
such as resume/suspend, to control power states(on/off).
The SCMI performance protocol manages UART baud rates, with each baud
rate represented by a performance level. Drivers use the
dev_pm_opp_set_level() API to request the desired baud rate by
specifying the performance level.
The QUP drivers are SCMI clients, with clocks, interconnects, pinctrl
and power-domains abstracted by a SCMI server.
The serial driver has a dependency on the dev_pm_opp_set_level() function,
which is applied in the OPP tree's linux-next branch.

On the sa8255p platform, resources such as clocks, interconnects
and TLMM (GPIO) configurations are managed by firmware.
Introduce a platform data function callback to distinguish whether
resource control is performed by firmware or directly by the driver
in linux.
The refactor ensures clear differentiation of resource
management mechanisms, improving maintainability and flexibility
in handling platform-specific configurations.

Enhances code readability and future modifications within the new API.
Move the code that handles the actual initialization of resources
like clock and ICC paths to a separate function, making the
probe function cleaner.

Supports use in PM system/runtime frameworks, helping to
distinguish new resource control mechanisms and facilitate
future modifications within the new API.
The code that handles the actual enable or disable of resources
like clock and ICC paths to a separate function
(geni_serial_resources_on() and geni_serial_resources_off()) which
enhances code readability.

The Qualcomm automotive SA8255p SoC relies on firmware to configure
platform resources, including clocks, interconnects and TLMM.
The driver requests resources operations over SCMI using power
and performance protocols.
The driver uses the
dev_pm_opp_set_level() API to request the desired baud rate by
specifying the performance level.

Why isn't here wakeup interrupt? Commit msg also does not help me to
understand why number of interrupts varies.

Currently we are not using wake-irq because it is optional for our
current implementation.
this irq configuration is same as sa87750.dtsi.

Great explanation. I asked why is it optional, answer because it is
optional.
What does it mean optional? This is part of the SoC, so how given one,
fixed SoC can have it routed or not routed in the same time?

Krzysztof

the serial driver doesn't enter runtime suspend mode until the port is
closed.
therefore, there is no need for a wake IRQ when the driver is in an
active state

You described current Linux driver, so if we change Linux driver or we
try for example FreeBSD, then bindings are different?
Again, explain how SoC can have this interrupt not routed.

Currently, the driver includes code to register the device's wakeup
capability
but it lacks the necessary handler code for wakeup IRQ. According to the
serial driver,
the wake IRQ is meant to wake up the device but the device remains
active because
the serial driver does not enter runtime suspend mode until the port
closed.
So it is better to exclude the wake IRQ until the appropriate code is added.

No, dt-bindings must describe the hardware in its entirety (to the
extent that software differentiates it), to the best of our
understanding, the drivers are free to exist or not, similarly they
may not implement all the features
DTB and kernel versions can be out of sync, so having a complete DT
description saves us from having to add explicit backwards
compatibility clauses in each driver and maintain them for the next 15
years, as well as letting the user update the kernel without worrying
about a breakage

But my driver on FreeBSD handles the wake IRQ, why you cannot add the
IRQ for it?
