A number of SuperH SoCs, including sh7724, include a Video Output Unit. This
patch adds a video (V4L2) output driver for it. The driver uses v4l2-subdev and
mediabus APIs to interface to TV encoders.

v1 -> v2:
1. removed overlay, it is actually not needed for gstreamer, sorry for
confusion
2. made scaling coefficient arrays const
3. switched to using V4L2_STD_525_60 instead of V4L2_STD_NTSC
4. improved platform bus configuration
5. added .vidioc_g_chip_ident, .vidioc_g_register, .vidioc_s_register to
support ak881x

AK8814 only differs from AK8813 by included Macrovision Copy Protection
function. This patch adds a driver for AK8813 and AK8814 I2C PAL/NTSC TV
encoders.
Signed-off-by: Guennadi Liakhovetski <g.liakhovetski@gmx.de>
---
v1 -> v2
1. switched to using v4l2_get_subdevdata(sd) instead of sd->priv
2. changed maximum height to 576 for PAL
3. removed a superfluous call to i2c_set_clientdata()
4. added a call to v4l2_device_unregister_subdev(sd)
5. moved IDs to preserve the ordering
What I haven't done:
1. kept dev_{dbg,info} instead of switching to v4l2_* analogs - Hans
wanted to rethink the current policy
2. didn't modify the "chip found" line - partially because of unclarities
with v4l2_info and double I2C address, partially because for
configurations, where chips are on CPU's i2c bus printing adapter name
doesn't make much sense, and the proposed line doesn't include the chip
ID, only its revision.
I would sugest to apply the patch as is and to adjust these remaining
points later when we have a better consensus about them.

This is not correct. The std is a bitmask but multiple bits can be set
(and usually are). In general this should be written like this:
if (std = V4L2_STD_NTSC_443) {
vp1 = 3;
ak881x->lines = 480;
} else if (std = V4L2_STD_PAL_M) {
...
} else if (std = V4L2_STD_PAL_60) {
...
} else if (std & V4L2_STD_PAL) {
...
} else if (std & V4L2_STD_NTSC) {
...
} else {
/* No SECAM or PAL_N/Nc supported */
return -EINVAL;
}
In all modern video encoders or decoders all PAL variants are handled
automatically. Only some very old tuners have restrictions.
I would also be surprised if this device didn't handle SECAM as well.
Changing the code like this will also fix the problem you had with ENUMSTD.
Requiring applications to show the full list of all variants is something
the end user will not understand (heck, *I* wouldn't understand either!).
My experience is that the list of formats that really matter is this:
NTSC
NTSC-443
PAL-M
PAL-N
PAL-Nc
PAL-60
(PAL-I in rare cases)
PAL (all others)
SECAM-BGH
SECAM-DK
SECAM-L
(SECAM-Lc is no longer used in practice)
In the case of S-Video/Composite input or output this list is even shorter:
NTSC-443
NTSC
PAL-M
PAL-N
PAL-Nc
PAL-60
PAL
SECAM

Hans

Thanks for your work on this. The VOU block is actually used by the
SH-Mobile series of SoCs. So you may want to throw in a "mobile" there
in you description to avoid future name space collisions.
I'll make sure that people test your V2 patch.
Is both NTSC and PAL known to be ok with v2?
Thanks,
/ magnus

I assumed the VOU was only on SH-Mobile, in which case you can just
depend on ARCH_SHMOBILE directly, since we set that for all SH-Mobile
CPUs anyways.
After that's done or proven to be an inaccurate assumption:
