There seems to be a severe problem (see Bugzilla Bug 109962) with FC1 SMP configurations, leading to system hangs, mainly during shutdown (on stopping automounter or unmounting file systems) but also during normal usage, with all 2.4.22-1.21XX.nptl SMP kernels available for Fedora (generic and all updates). Both on dual/HT Xeons and dual Athlons. All these problems disappear instantly if (a) one runs the non-SMP kernel or (b) one installs one of the RedHat 9 2.4.20 SMP kernels. Any experience, hints, ideas? regards, Michal. -- Michal Szymanski (msz@astrouw.edu.pl) Warsaw University Observatory, Warszawa, POLAND
