Subject: New computer -- used for sound

Hello netlanders ...

I intend to buy a new computer, and I want to run Linux on it
(what else? ;-). I want to use it for creating songs and stuff,
using programs like Rosegarden, TiMidity, X11Amp, BladeEnc,
Multitrack, and so on.
I also want to buy a MIDI-keyboard, (approx. $150 ), so I can play
my tunes directly into Rosegarden.
Questions:
1. Is this possible, with the keyboard?
2. What setup is the best? I.e. much RAM, or a fast processor,
    or both, etc ...
3. Does anybody have experience with sound/MIDI under Linux,
and can give some tips to me.

thanks in advance,
 Kenneth Sarmaat
