Subject: getting Digital Audio (Toslink) into a PC Linux box

Hi
I'm toying with the idea of converting my vinyl records and casette tapes
into mp3 files for easier playback, easier browsing and all the other
usual benefits.
I have an older JVC HiFi integrated amp with a pretty good AD/DA
converter and consumer grade Toslink coax output.
The big question is, how do I get that Toslink signal into my Linux box?
BTW. I have succesfully ran a fiber from the digital output of a pioneer
CDROM drive to that amplifier. The idea is that the DA in a CDROM drive is
crap, but the mechanical parts and the error correction has to be damn
good to deliver up to 32x read operations, so by tapping the digital
signal and running it to some decent HiFi grade DA one gets a really nice
quality CD player with an X11 GUI ;-)
