I am a developer and would like to write a driver for a new
card.

My company builds a video capture device ( bt878 ) that also support
audio capture. I have written to the v4l gang and they sugguested
I contact you or OSS.

I have written the audio capture driver for WinNT, so I am familiar
with what is needed by the hardware.

Questions:

What apps are supported by ALSA?

Does Real Producer support audio capture through ALSA?

If not can 'OSS Emulation' provide the functionallity needed.

For this device, there is no sound output, no midi, no mixing. Only
PCM capture is possible. Does a limited capability card fit into
ALSA very well?

I would appreciate feedback online (alsa-devel) or offline. If
anybody has any pointers please send them my way. ALSA or OSS.

What is linux-sound@vgr.rutgers.edu anyway?

thanks
