The fixes are similar, mostly long lines splitting. I had to make
serveral patches to ease the work of inspectors

v2: fixed a compilation error found by the kernel test robot and
recompiled the code

v3: tends out the error persisted in the second version. this version is
a correction of that

Tanjuate Brunostar (6):
  staging: vt6655: fix lines ending in a '('
  staging: vt6655: refactor long lines of code in s_uGetRTSCTSDuration
  staging: vt6655: refactor long lines of code in s_uFillDataHead
  staging: vt6655: refactor long lines of code in s_vGenerateTxParameter
  staging: vt6655: refactor long lines of code in the rest of the file
  staging: vt6655: refactor code to avoid a line ending in '('

If you end up doing more work here, ou might consider removing the
Hungarian style notations

Maybe something like:

s_uGetTxRsvTime	-> get_tx_rsv_time

> +		unsigned char byPktType,

byPktType	-> pkt_type

etc...

Perhaps patches by unique rename.

Yes I plan on doing that as a separate patch. It could be overwhelming
keeping track of so many changes at a time

Any reason you do not have "staging: vt6655:" as the prefix for this 0/X

You have a strange mix of choices here for how you changed the code.

This time you did not move the "static" or "unsigned int" to the same
line as the function name, but then:

You moved "unsigned int" here, but then:

You did both the static and the return type here.

Pick one style and stick with it please. Consistancy matters, that is
why we have a coding style to start with. Brains and pattern matching
and all that.

In this case, this last one (both static and the return type), should be
used.

So your commit to fix a "too long of a line" has a changelog text line
that is "too long".

The irony is deep here...

Why is this function not returning u16 to start with? Everywhere it is
used it is casted.

Please fix that up first, then fix up the function name itself, and then
work on shortening these lines, as that will be much better overall.

thanks,

Don't break lines like this, this is now much harder to read.

It should look like:
		if (byFBOption != AUTO_FB_NONE &&
		    uDMAIdx != TYPE_ATIMDMA &&
		    uDMAIdx != TYPE_BEACONDMA) {

If you want to make it more readable, right?

And that is the main point here, the coding style is to make it readable
to us humans, the compiler doesn't care.

Your change makes the logic harder to understand, not easier, which is a
step backwards.

We write code for developers first (as we have to maintain it), and the
compiler second.

thanks,

greg k-h

Casting to void * is very odd. Try working on fixing up that mess
first...
