not easy to tell, if xp 2800+ or P4 2.8 is better for uml

but maybe:
http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/20021001/index.html
helps to find a decision.

this is another comparison i found on the net:

Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz
SPECint: 1010
SPECfp: 947

AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (2.25GHz)
SPECint: 933
SPECfp: 843
-------------------------
AMD Zone a reçu des résultats sous SPEC CPU 2000 d'un sample du processeur Opteron 2GHz d'AMD :

- SPECint 2000

Opteron 2GHz : 1202
Athlon XP 2800+ nForce 2 : 933
Dell 2.8GHz P4 : 1010
Dell 2.8GHz Xeon : 957

- SPECfp 2000

Opteron 2GHz : 1170
Athlon XP 2800+ nForce 2 : 843
Dell 2.8GHz P4 : 947
Dell 2.8GHz Xeon : 887
-------------------------

don`t know, which is the best benchmark to give an estimate, if uml performs good on that cpu - the P4 seems better.

but - as a compare pricings, the amd gives you much more for the money. it`s much cheaper. (as usual)

regards
roland
