Subject: [uml-devel] UML on 2.6.0-test9 host
Date: Thu, 13 Nov 2003 02:57:58 +0100	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <20031113015758.GS22490@blabluga.hell.pl> (raw)

Hello,
I would like to exercise a benefits from user-mode-linux, so I installed it
and... the saga begins.

I am using Debian unstable, kernel 2.6.0-test9 and debianized
user-mode-linux, version 2.4.22-5um-1. It looks like running uml in this
configuration is impossible. However it boots properly after some time it
displays message:
I'm tracing myself and I can't get out
and it hangs up.
Only I can do is ``killall linux''.

I have tried to debug it, but none of method described in debugging.html
works. Only results I received comes from:

arturcz@blabluga:~$ linux con0=fd:0,fd:1 con=pty ubd1=uml-image  devfs=mount
rsworkdir=/home/arturcz root=/dev/root rootflags=/ rootfstype=hostfs
init=/bin/bash debugtrace
Checking for the skas3 patch in the host...not found
Checking for /proc/mm...not found
tracing thread pid = 20743
Tracing thread pausing to be attached

arturcz@blabluga:~$ gdb /usr/bin/linux
GNU gdb 6.0-debian
[copyright]
This GDB was configured as "i386-linux"...(no debugging symbols found)...
(gdb) att 20743

(gdb)

and linux is still hanged up.

giving cont command to gdb results only with:
(gdb) c
Continuing.

That's all what I can tell you about this problem. If you need any other
data (like host's kernel configuration, used libraries, etc) send me an
email.

Thanks for your attention.

Cheers
	Artur
