I tries the following without success: 1. 'con=pts' instead of 'con=pty'. 2. 'con=xterm' instead of 'con=pty'. 3. added 'init=/bin/sh' to both of the above. 4. compiled the guest kernel again with 'make defconfig'. 5. moved away /lib/tls in the guest fs. I'm still getting the same warning about the console.
