 	I have a fedora core 3/i386 filesystem that seems to Work Well For 
Me(tm).  It's at http://www.stearns.org/uml-root/ , with some brief 
install notes at

 	The filesystem deliberately has a relatively small number of 
installed packages.  You can install additional packages with rpm or yum.
