Why?

Please do not do this for subsystems that do not explicitly ask for it.
If you wish to work on checkpatch issues, please start with
drivers/staging/* and go from there.

For now, USB should be pretty "clean" with some minor issues.  The churn
here is not yet worth it as you have found.
