If you have two different kernel versions, and the device reliably works under
one and reliably fails under the other, you should be able to use bisection to
pinpoint the single change in the kernel which was responsible for the change
in behavior.
If you aren't able to carry out a bisection yourself, you may get help from the
opensuse people.
