Subject: [Bug 216170] New: Ideapad Yoga freezes on USB removal
Date: Sat, 25 Jun 2022 04:26:19 +0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-216170-208809@https.bugzilla.kernel.org/> (raw)

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=216170

            Bug ID: 216170
Summary: Ideapad Yoga freezes on USB removal
           Product: Drivers
           Version: 2.5
    Kernel Version: 5.18.4
          Hardware: All
                OS: Linux
              Tree: Mainline
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P1
         Component: USB
          Assignee: drivers_usb@kernel-bugs.kernel.org
          Reporter: rawat.arnav@gmail.com
        Regression: No

On (any) USB device removal from a Yoga 9i laptop, the system completely locks
up, needing a hard restart. The kernel does not write any relevant logs to disk
when the lockups occur, making debugging difficult. I am open to suggestions on
how to debug this problem, and about any kernel options I can apply to identify
the cause of the lockup.

The kernel parameters for hardware watchdogs and hard lockup panic do not work.
Neither do sysrq keys. The lockup does not behave as a kernel panic - kexec is
not used, and neither does the caps light blink.

Model: Yoga 9i 14ITL5 82BG
Kernel: 5.18.4
